The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) seeks to recruit an intern in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Unit in Addis Ababa - Ethiopia.The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) works to improve people's lives in low- and middle-income countries through livestock science that contributes to equitable and resilient livestock systems to deliver food systems transformation with climate and environmental benefits. It is the only one of 15 CGIAR research centers dedicated entirely to animal agriculture research for the developing world. Co-hosted by Kenya and Ethiopia, it has regional or country offices and projects in East, South and Southeast Asia as well as Central, East, Southern and West Africa.About the position:The ILRI ICT department is responsible for providing technical support that enables ILRI staff to communicate, collaborate and effectively perform their duties. Support is offered across business systems, SharePoint updates, computer hardware, software, cybersecurity, and networking. The department ensures operational efficiency by maintaining an up-to-date IT infrastructure.The intern will support ILRI's ICT service desk by assisting with ICT service desk ticket management activities. Additionally, the intern will also get oriented to the various ICT units and functions they perform.Key responsibilities:Theintern will work closely with the staff in the department and be involved in the following tasks : - * Manning the ICT service desk and assigning tickets to the appropriate technicians.
Provision of basic support to users of ICT Services.
Performing routines diagnostics to ICT systems.
Assist with setting up physical & virtual meetings.
Cleanup of records in various ICT systems.
Testing of new software and technical tools.
Installing new software and hardware on endpoints.
Delivering hardware and resources to staff as required.
Perform other duties that may be allocated by the supervisor.
Position requirements:The ideal candidate should : - * Be currently enrolled for an undergraduate university degree program and is pursuing a bachelor's in either Computers Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related field.
Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Possess good command in written and spoken English language.
Location: ILRI Addis Ababa - Ethiopia.Duration: 3 months.Terms of appointmentThe internship at ILRI will offer:
A monthly stipend to meet day to day living expenses.
