- Support is provided in the preparation of the agreements with the regions
- Provide any support required by the PM in drafting the M&E plan for the project according to Log Frames, with the support of the WASH Coordinator/Advisor.
- Prepare drafts/ToRs for activities implementation (background, methodology, objectives, results, activities, BoQs, Monitoring and post monitoring table linked to result framework including cash, materials, transport) and send it to PM, with the support and supervision of the WASH Coordinator/Advisor.
- When requested by the PM, prepare a detailed physical and financial monthly plan according to the format provided by the PM and submit it to PM 10 days before the end of the month, with the support and supervision of the WASH Coordinator/Advisor.
- Prepare weekly activity planning, movement plan with the PM and APM and send to the WASH Coordinator/Advisor.
- Prepare monthly plan with the support of the WASH Coordinator/Advisor and the PM.
- Prepare the general workplan for the hard and soft activities.
- Prepare and share the weekly accomplishment of the works.
- Contribute to weekly project meetings.
- Support the WASH Coordinator/Advisor in planning WASH activities.
- Compile weekly mission orders and submit them to the WASH team and the PM.
- Support WASH team in drafting new project proposals, especially in the selection of interventions.
- Be able to read the technical drawings in a correct way, and read the files describing the activities and their sequence.
- Explain to COOPI masons what they need to do and how they should implement the activities, going into technical details.
- Be able to locate the infrastructures and the pipelines according to the positions given in the drawings or in the technical documents.
- Follow the technical details, BoQs and technical drawings provided.
- Working closely with COOPI’s WASH Department.
- Have relevant experience in supervising the works for capping a spring, digging a hand-dug well, drilling a borehole and about the right time these works should be started/completed.
- He/she should know about the international and local standards to be the reference for executing the works.
- Report any management problems in implementing activities to the PM. Report any technical problems to the PM and the WASH Coordinator/Advisor.
- Support the PM in the implementation of project activities. Provide technical assistance in her/his area of expertise.
- Support field supervision of contractors and PIs. Review and approve completion reports of completed works in collaboration with the advisory group, PM and program coordinator.
- Support the implementation of baseline, intermediate monitoring, post-monitoring, end-of-project surveys and all data collection required to implement activities, reporting results and targets as requested by the PM and ToRs (with Kobo when possible).
- Make proper use and take care of COOPI properties under one’s control.
- Work closely with the WASH team in the implementation of activities.
- Supervise the work of masons/plumbers during the construction of WASH works (water systems, elevated cisterns, latrines…).
- Be present in the field during hard and soft works (construction, rehabilitation, hygiene campaigns, data collection, monitoring, etc.).
- Actively participating to weekly/bi-weekly meeting called by the PM following the Agile system.
- Preparation of weekly and monthly reports to share with WASH supervisors and PM.
- Support to draft/inform the WASH supervisors and PM on activities accomplishment, including implementation data as requested (interim, final, ad hoc, etc).
- Participate in grant closing meetings for every closed grant (if required by the PM).
- Attend coordination meetings with communities at Kebele and Woredas level requested by the PM and share key points (no decision level is granted in stakeholders coordination meetings).
- Support the organization of internal and donors visits to the project sites liaising with the PM.
- Support approval of agreements with the regions and required MoU with local authorities.
- Active participation in relevant technical working group.
- Support the regular collection of information at stakeholders level (Zone, Woredas and Kebele, community, local partners, NGOs, etc.) baseline need assessment, gaps.
- Propose activities and project ideas and share them to the WASH supervisors and PM.
- Bachelor in engineering, with a specialization in water and civil works.
- A minimum of five years of relevant working experience supervising directly construction teams for water works at field sites, with private companies or NGOs. Please, list the water works you supervised and completed in your CV, with clear specifications on your role, works completed and locations.
- Fluency in English, Amharic and Oromo.
- Computer literacy, with excellent knowledge of the Office package.
- Proven capacity to work in a team is essential. Experience in managing staff (masons, plumbers) is a must.
- Excellent knowledge in construction of WASH works (towers, tanks, control boxes, water points…) and draft of BoQs.
- Have some knowledge related to the foundation soils.
- Knowledge of basic hydraulics principles.
- Knowledge of the QGIS software and SPHERE Standards.
- Demonstrated ability to work in stressful environments and under pressure.
- Knowledge of local language and area of operation is a plus.
