- Assist in the budgeting and forecasting processes, monitoring performance against budgets and identifying variances.
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, providing strategic insights to senior management for informed decision-making.
- Collaborate effectively with other departments to ensure smooth operations
- Oversee all financial operations, including communication with local stakeholders if needed.
- Assist in preparation of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement) in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Ethiopian accounting standards.
- Lead financial audits and liaise with external auditors and stakeholders.
- Safeguard receipts and important financial documents
- Assist the business team in preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial models (as required).
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including transferring CIP (Construction in Progress) to Fixed Assets (FA), fixed asset counting, and maintaining accrual schedules.
- Analyze financial performance against budgets/forecasts and provide variance explanations.
- Review contracts, adjust budget deductions, and verify payments.
- Assist in cash flow budgeting by collaborating with the operations team to identify bi-weekly cash flow requirements.
- Conduct monthly operational cost analysis and electricity price monitoring.
- Prepare monthly management reports.
- Collaborate with tax officers from the tax authority to resolve tax-related issues on behalf of the Group Tax team
- Regularly access to Ethiopia tax portal to download tax-related documents (e.g. Notice of Assessment or equivalent, Customs documents and other official communications)
- Ensure timely forwarding of relevant documents to the Group Tax team for further action
- Stay updated on changes in local tax laws and any other legislations in Ethiopia and their implications for the company, and share relevant developments with HQ finance team in a timely and accurate manner
- Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA, CA or equivalent certification is a plus).
- 7-8 years of relevant experience of which 4 years on similar position
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
- Knowledge of English and Amharic is required
- Knowledge of other local languages is advantageous
